Around 4am on Sunday, three males are accused of gang-raping a Dalit juvenile and assaulting her 17-year-old friend in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur area. The police said the suspects were later detained.

The 17-year-old Ajmer girl and a little boy allegedly ran away from home on Saturday, according to police. On Saturday night, the two took a bus to Jodhpur and started looking for accommodations close to the bus stop.

The children were strolling on the road when three males approached them at Pawata Circle and promised to help them, according to deputy commissioner of Police (East) Amrita Duhan. “The minors could not find a place to stay… they were walking on the road when three men approached them and offered to help them,” she added.

According to authorities, the three defendants—Samandar Singh (21), Bhattam Singh (22), and Dharmpal Singh (21)—offered the two teenagers lunch and suggested they continue their journey by train.

According to authorities, the accused forced the two youngsters to follow them to the railway line close to the Pawata circle and continued strolling through the night. Around 4 am, the group entered a university campus through a hole in the wall, where the two accused kidnapped the young boy and abused and gagged him, according to police. They then allegedly attacked the female and gang-raped her.

The three men left at 5 a.m. after observing a few people out for a morning walk, according to authorities. The little child requested assistance from bystanders, who took them to JNVU Old Campus police station, according to the police.

The girl was saved and transferred to Mahatma Gandhi hospital for a medical assessment, according to the police, who also stated that DCP Duhan and police commissioner Ravidutt Gaur arrived at the scene after receiving the information.

The child has received counselling from the police and is currently in their custody; the young boy is too, according to the DCP.

The families of the youngsters have been informed and are travelling to Jodhpur, according to police personnel.

A first information report (FIR) was filed based on the underage girl’s complaint in accordance with Indian Penal Code section 376(g) (gang rape) and other provisions of the Protection of Children Under Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) and Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

According to a police officer, “one of the accused was identified based on CCTV footage… when police went to arrest him, they also found the other two accused.”

“Police have gathered forensic evidence, and we hope to present the charge sheet within a week,” the police officer said. The police will then request an expedited trial in the case, according to Duhan.
