Unknown thieves robbed a van in Bengaluru that was carrying 2,000 kg of tomatoes to a market, according to the police.

On 8 July, the event happened within the confines of the RMC Yard police station, which is close to Chikkajala.

The farmer was moving his produce from Chitradurga’s Hiriyur town to the Kolar market, according to the police.

In their vehicles, the three miscreants followed the tomato vehicle.

After that, they blocked the car and attacked the driver and farmer their car had been hit.

They also requested money from them, which they later transferred electronically to their mobile.

The thieves then climbed into the car carrying the tomatoes and took off, leaving the farmer and the driver behind.

RMC Yard Police are gathering CCTV footage in an effort to learn more about the criminals.

In Karnataka, the cost of tomatoes has reached Rs 120 to Rs 150 per kg.

The tomato harvest has to be protected by tents because thieves are breaking into farms and robbing people to get rich quickly.
