According to a BEE report, India saved 249 billion units (BUs) of power and avoided paying bills of Rs. 1.60 lakh crore during the fiscal year 2021–22. RK Singh, the union minister for power, new energy, and renewable resources launched the report titled National Energy Data: Survey and Analysis 2021–22 on Friday in the capital.

According to the Ministry of Power, Niti Aayog and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) worked together to create the report.

The statistics indicated that 249 BUs of electricity were saved.

The impact of numerous energy conservation programs was cited as the cause of the overall energy savings of Rs. 1,60,721 crore.
The minister emphasized the need for information on energy usage while announcing the report, citing examples like the cost of solar cooking vs gas-based cooking.

“Reducing reliance on imported energy sources is our primary goal. The two ways to accomplish this, he continued, are to first electrify the economy and then go green with energy.

The impact of various government programs, including incentives and subsidies, would be evaluated, sub-sectoral energy consumption patterns will be examined, and information on non-commercial energy sources like biomass will be gathered, according to BEE Director General (DG) Abhay Bhakre.

To promote the adoption of energy-efficient equipment or appliances, a number of actions are taken.
