President Droupadi Murmu departs from Serbia to India after the conclusion of the 3-day state visit

President Droupadi Murmu left Serbia for India after her three-day state visit, which took place from June 7–9. Premier Ana Brnabic of Serbia bid farewell to President Murmu at the Nikola Tesla Airport.

This was the first-ever state visit between the two nations by either Head of State. President Murmu emphasized the special bond between India and Serbia that dates back to the Non-aligned movement during the visit. She also emphasized that before the end of this decade, India will have the third-largest economy in the world.
During the visit, high-level business representatives from the two nations also met, and a number of ideas to increase bilateral trade between the two nations were explored. The goal for bilateral trade between the two nations through the end of this decade is one billion euros.

According to an AIR correspondent, President Murmu was warmly welcomed by her Serbian colleague Aleksandar Vucic at the Nicola Tesla Airport when she arrived in Belgrade. Restricted and delegation-level negotiations between the two countries took place during the visit. Potential areas of collaboration were discussed, including trade and investment, research and technology, digital technologies, and interpersonal relationships. Mr. Vucic pledged to make it easier to grant visas to Indian citizens and to start direct flights between the two countries in order to boost tourism and increase commercial interaction. President Murmu hosted a gathering for the Serbian Indian community and its allies while he was there. The President also lay a wreath at the Mount Avala monument honoring the Unknown Heroes and presented flowers to the bust of Mahatma Gandhi.
